The Spookiest ME Deck

Well it looks like we have no winner for the recruitment contest although good job Link and Thrall king though....I will think on how to make it worth their while to sign up.



In the mean time I was thinking in the spirit of halloween. As you know we have a new set coming out Oct 28th 2006 Dark Union. So I have decided to have a deck building contest and the theme is the most scariest and effective at the same time.This contest will be from Friday 13th to Oct 31st and the winner will recieve an original scrye magazine with the zombie and skellaton tokens from Mystical Empire and what the heck it's hollween time to be giving so I will throw in a $25.00 gift certificate from my store.

Well, alright, assuming I'm understanding the rules correctly, and just to have a little fun, I'll go ahead and post a little something right now of my own. I know you guys are waiting for the reasons you said, but to me it almost seems better to do it now b/c you'll get first credit for using some of the better comboes or themes. It seems like if anyone did "bite" your material, they would surely not get rewarded for it. Well, it doesn't matter anyway...I'm too inspired to wait.

The theme is to be scary/spooky and try to also kick some butt, right? I guess I'll start with a cardpool that includes any Undead, has the word death in it, or just overall has creepy imagery. I include explanations for the less obvious card choices. Well, here goes...

Well, there you go gentlemen. I call the deck Death Touch for its dual meaning. Literally, the deck could just kill you, lol. Metaphorically, it could describe that the deck has a way of turning all your creatures into zombies, and then either killing them all (sac a Corpse Collector), neutralize them all (Emperor's Crown, also nice with even their nonzombies with Chaos Orb out) or better yet take control of them all! (Dark Union, the effect) Well, that's the theme.

As far as deck efficiency, I chose to go with Grimus since he's the evilest looking thing ever. As I fan out my deck, looks pretty spooky to me. But more than thought, the premise of the deck is evil...take a nasty control lock of their game by neutralizing, killing, or taking control of all their creatures. Not to mention, you can even make it hurt for them to draw cards during their draw phase...curses, baby, curses!

Looking at the deck, I playing some cards that I normally wouldn't and vice versa didn't include some cards that I would normally for consistency in theme. For example, this being primarily a control deck, I'd play Peace Time, but...

I like the way the deck works. It has a lot of interesting synnergy and card interaction, and sometimes it can be just downright mean. It certainly picks on any other undead decks, but it has the measures to combat most anything.

Some of my favorite mini comboes:

Dark Union + their zombies- I gain control of any undead they have, especially all the ones I would give them from my Death's Embrace, Cranials, and Stench of Death.

Emperor's Crown + their zombies- If I don't control them, they can't hurt me anyway!

Emperor's Crown + Orb of Chaos- Even their normal creatures can't touch this, assuming they don't betray their master first o course!

War Priest + their zombies- kill them and heal...

Staff of Bone + Bindakoo- naturally efficient if I'm chump blocking and especially if I'm sacrificing my own tokens to...

Staff of Bone + Hydra- many tokens feed Hydra nicely, giving him many actions to attack, or, make more tokens of his own!

Wandering Cleric + sac creatures- use and abuse Cranial, Bat Zombie, and Sneaky

Crystal Ball + Staff of Bone- convert one jojo token for 2 cards in grip

Crystal Ball + curses- speed up the pain!

Well, I hope you guys enjoy this. Is this all I need to submit, or should I do something else? Either way, I feel like I've already won just b/c I had so much fun doing it. This was an awesome idea and awesome contest, and I'm glad you guys thought of this, whoever you are (Frank? others?). I look forward to seeing your guys' decks. Thanks!

Lord Draqula=The Evil ( I can't really make the moaning nose in a typed medium, but "UHHHHHHHH!")
Vampires=Deadites ("JOIN US!")
Humans=Those seduced by the evil ("Kanda! Kanda!")
Succubus=Sheila. ("You found me beatiful once")
Zombie Lord=Bad Ash ("I...Live...Again...")

Of course Zombies and Skeletons are going to members of my "Army of Darkness", and getting them out and back is even better.

I created this deck for the Chicago Regionals, but choose to play an alternate deck instead. It still works for this thread. I was making an evil "Belphegor" deck before it was cool! Sadly, I've never actually been able to try this deck out against any real players...

Feedback would be appreciated if anyone makes this for fun...
