Cool, cool. Welcome to the forums. I see you're already quite active...it's good to see. I'll gander at that deck you posted in due time.
I did want to know who you were. Although, I don't know if anybody caught that quote from Kobe in the NBA quarterfinal after Raja Bell close-lined him WWE style. It was funny. I don't know what made me think of that.
You ready to take all those boys down at your Regional?

Cool I like animay. I have one question to ask you, how do you come up with your deck ideas? I try to come up with good decks but so far I have only made one good one.

Having all those top players on your side of the world and you're asking me? Thanks! How flattering...not that all those guys aren't going to make fun of you now for associating with a Windy. As for decks, I would go about it 1 of 2 ways; the metagame method, or the fun method. In the metagame method, go out there and get a good understanding of what the top decks are, and how it is they give other decks problems. Try to look for a combo, or set of cards, or even a Character that seems to have an advantage over some of the others. Or try to think of a deck type you could construct that has the least weaknesses your opponents could potentially exploit. Notice, in this scenario, you're building a deck from the end back to the beginning, meaning that you might have no idea what form it will take until you put it all together, but you mixed little combos together in an effort to take down the hot decks out there now. Or you can take an existing hot deck out there and attempt to adapt the weaknesses better for the field. That's typically referred to as metagaming, and it's probably the way the best players go about it, at least somewhat. Then there's the fun method. It's a little looser and gives room for more outside the box thinking and thus, more fun. It still begins with knowing the field however...knowing or at least somewhat calculating what type of strategy might be used against you is paramount to succeding at anything. However, once you feel you know what's up, indulge your instincts. What do they tell you to play? What might your gut tell you might be effective, even if no other sane player has ever or would ever try it? Or, even more simply, is there a card or character that you've always wanted to make work but just haven't gotten around to it yet? Start with that as your base, then cultivate it with the cards that will make it work. Identify what type of known decks out there might give you trouble, then try to add some defense against that while at the same time keeping your deck balanced enough to handle random noob decks. (by the way, never underestimate random noob decks! I'll tell you why shortly.) Notice that this approach involves starting at a beginning and working towards an end. When you're done, you might have the best Belphegor deck the field has ever seen. This is widely seen as being Rogue, meaning outside the Metagame. I have no idea whether this approach would be advisible, but I guarantee you it's more fun, and I will tell you I use this more than the other approach. I've done ok for myself so far in card games. I find that going the first route proves more consistent to success. Most likely you'll use a deck that has already been proven and you will have tried to make it only better. The draw back I see is that when using this approach, it is more easy for your opponents to identify the strategies you might be up to. As soon as they do, they'll be in their comfort zone since they will have probably playtested against all the top strategies. That's doesn't mean you'll lose. The better man will win. These types of matches typically go to the more strategic, tactical. It's like a game of chess. The second route is more risky even if more fun. You'd be putting your games on the line with a deck truly of your own creation. The draw back is that you can get your face owned bad. However, I think the benefits are long term. Even if you don't win at first, I think that thinking along these lines makes a more savvy player in the future. You're constantly improving on your intuition and deck building skills on your own merit. Although, I will say that if you use cards that your opponent never gave the light of day, then he can never really get in that comfort zone. Either he gets false confidence by underestimating you, or is a little uneasy since he's worried about what you might be up to. In both cases, they're in danger of making more mistakes and killing themselves since they are not playing in that comfort zone. Consider this route at least some of the time if you have confidence in yourself and aren't afraid of taking a hit sometimes for the greater good. I predict that these types of players acheive higher level game thinking faster than some of the metagame players. Well, these are some of the things I do. It was a good question on your part, and I encourage you to ask as many players as will share with you a piece of their mind.

I took longer as you can see by the length of the response I sent you. And don't worry about asking questions. You should and I encourage you to. After all, Sojo and Jay drop bombs on me all the time, so don't worry about me being easily offended.

Thanks! That's nice of you to say. I'm just glad I could help.
About the methods I talk about, the most healthy thing would be to mix it up sometimes. But always remember to go with what you are most comfortable with to the big events. Leave the experiments for the kiddie pool of smaller events...
...unless you're a daredevil like me!!!

Hey. What are you doing up this late? I see you made a new deck. It looks decent but I would definitely put in some flying, if only a couple. I didn't really get a chance to work on my deck today as I was really busy, but I plan on tuning it up tomorrow.
