Sanctioned ??

Hi Guys,

New to the game but I play competitive Marvel VS. I won tons of product and money I like the incentives of playing sanctioned events. I noticed NE is having non-sanctioned advertised but where can I play sanctioned? my friends and I dont mind the ocasional casual play at the local shop but as I said we play competitive and we travel.

Also, when is ME posting the prize support for top players? I heard about the Gencon trip and that's what got me involved in the game in the first place. well...it turned out the game was fun also

Welcome, Gamefreak! I'm glad you want to get into the game. Let's hope I can be of some help to you.

Gencon just happened, and it happens to be the end of the ME year. Now, Keith Katsikas, the admin to this board but also the creator of the game along with brother Dave, is currently ironing out the prize details for the next year, which should start almost immediately. They are doing so with the CGE company, which is the sanctioning party for ME.

The good thing is that some stores in NE, the Midwest and Cali as well as other stores around the nation have already started their non-sanctioned leagues and such. It's great because we can then use that momentum to pool the players to the Sanctioned Events and have everyone winning great prizes and maybe even trips to Cons again.

I will try to get an associate of CGE in contact with this thread soon to provide more details as they become available. For now, enjoy yourself here on the boards as you can gather a lot of information about strategy and metagaming and rules all over the place. Let me know how if I may help you further. Later!

well its awesome u want to play. and i know EXACTLY how u are when u see a game and u are already looking for competitive play. well in NE it was 2 times a week sanctioned play to get ready and get ratings up for gen con. after gen con because its done it has coooled down a lot. now we are runing the tourneys u saw. there should be some sanctioned play once... new sets come out of wihtin 5-6 monthes before gencon 10,000 event. i can PM or email u about the start up of events at IGS.

Blaine, I would be carefull about how you plan on playing this year. Some things have changed and are still to come. For instence, stores can only run two sanctioned events a week now. And we have MANY new stores starting up sanctioned events accross the country, and in the coming months we will be have sanctioned events starting up overseas. If you truly plan on waiting until the last few months before GenCon, you will most like'y fall to far behind to compete. The Whiz Stare is starting up sanctioned event right now and Your Move Games will be following, as well as a few others throughout the NE. We also have many stores outside of NE going to be starting up sanctioned play, in areas like CA, KS, TX, IL, IN, FL, WI, and more... We are busting butt trying to get as many places involved this year as possible. We will have a MUCH better year! =) But, please remember, you guys need to keep playing in sanctioned events if you want to make it. Please check out our new prize support structure for the coming year at www.mysticalempire.com/prizestructure.html Also, you need to know that the only people who will be able to play in the MEGA Face Off are those who play there way up the ranks. You need to play in a Qualifyer and you MUCH be in the top 8 to get an invite to Regionals. Then you must do well at Regionals inorder to make it to MEGA. The only other way, is to go to GenCon and play in the LAST CHANCE Qualifyer. Even then only the top 8 from that event can play in MEGA. So you MUST be at the top of your game!

Also, it may be a benifet to know that the All Expence Paid Trip to GenCon will be awarded to the #1 Ranked player in Limited this year. So put on your Drafting and Sealed Shoes and maybe even your Mystical Empire shoes (we are still working on getting that one sanctioned). Anyways... this is going to be a fun year! I hope to see a lot more activity here in the forums and in stores across the country.

The west coast is coming we have the so cal coming up and I intend to double the mega numbers at gen con so cal. Thats right 100!
