I was recently at my local card shop getting some Reckoning boosters. I didn't get a whole lot, 14 packs, as i didn't have a lot of money on me but I could not be happier with my pulls. I got two UR's and oddly enough they were a second crucifix and a tower to the heavens! Two cards that I really wanted. The crucifix because my friend wanted one and now i had an extra to trade and tower of the heavens is just an awesome card. Another person bought only 2 packs an got a Phoenix out of the same box! Were the UR's made less rare in this set or something, because there are usually only a max of 2 UR's in a box?
Anyway when i got home I made a deck that I have been contemplating making for a while. I actually got all but one of the cards I needed for that deck out of the packs I bought. A friend of mine got the last card out of a pack and traded it to me along with a few others for my extra crucifix. The deck I built is INSANE and when i tried it out...it was just awesome. I wish there was a tournament sooner so I could try it out against some new people.
Anyway what does everyone think of the new set now that it's finally out? Any one think they built any insane decks with the new cards yet?
I personally think that this new set is awesome! It definitely adds a whole new dimension to the game and actually gives structures a chance to be used since the new set slowed the game down a bit.
Nice job on making a great set! I hope to see more cool cards in the future.

I also like the new set. I thought about rating each card from 1 to 5 stars but realized that would take forever and nobody would want to read it anyways . But I can give an overall overview of my feelings I guess. Creatures: Angels are very nice BUT be careful when playing Sainteath. As I saw in the prerelease, a few kills can lead to a chain reaction of loyalty rolls that can be quite painful. Dragons are very nice. The growth can slow you down but the final product is usually worth the wait. I am unimpressed with Kershwndie the dragon lord character. False loyalty to all your dragons is too much a penalty to pay when you wait so long for the to hatch. Frost sorceress is going to bring up more debates about being broken. While it lacks illusionists speed, the remaining tapped for one turn is just NASTY. Look for some serious stall decks combining with this card. I like the new "coming into play" cards as well; see one of them coming in and out of buildings in a tournament near you soon! Unfaithful Predator could be the best of the new Curse cards, and the only curse creature. Items: Declaration of war is probably the strongest of the new items. The dwarven hammer could be a sleeper in some nasty agro dwarf decks. Crusifix in play negates the loyalty issue discussed above. I can see all but one of the items in tournament decks or sideboards. Structures II think they added a few nice builders which will make building structures more viable. I am not sure they slowed the game down (as Arashi mentioned) but, especially with the shielded builders and the peasants, I think they might have sped up the building of structures enough to make them tournament viable. Recruitment Camp and Onager are my favorites from this set but the bigger impact is the the improved speed to all building. Spells: Once again, all solid cards. Most would rank Fireball #1 but I would argue that Freeze is "THE BEST CARD IN THE SET". I can see every single spell making an appearance in tournament decks. Effects: The curses show up the most here. I love the curse concept, unique and fun. I am not sure which will rise to the top (curse pun ) but there are a few here that could be the focus of some tourny decks. Diety status is possibly the most broken card in the set. Don't underestimate the power of this card. There are a few 'blah' effects but most could see play in the right decks. Overall: I feel the new set is solid all the way around. Rarely will you open a pack that you will be disappointed in. I think there may be a few more "bombs" in First Edition but it also has a few more "blah" type cards. I see most of the new concepts/creature classes making a splash in tournament level decks (angels, dragons, curses, and coming into play creatures). I even think structures become more viable too. The star of the new characters is Saintheah. We shall see how the new constructed decks pan out in the new few months. Kudo's to Kieth and the design team for making a great follow up to the original set.

and spiller i think u are a little obbsesive with freeze. it is a great card ON TURN ONE. but besides that its just decent.
Firbal is OK it is usually a 3 for 1.

freeze, if played correctly, is essentially: "Opponent cannot play any cards this turn" for 6 temporal, and 6 general magic. While not quite "skip entire turn", still a very powerful card. If played early in the game, it often will lead to card advantage that your opponent will never recover from.

You don't loose your turn if you cast it with your creatures. If your testing is finding it as a subpar card, don't play it. I find it very strong for at least the first four turns. I guess we will have to agree to disagree.
