Deck Construction

Hello,

I added a few cards to the starter decks, and wanted some input on what you guys think. It makes it really easy to make a deck with the rarity/card limit on all of the cards. There are no restricted lists etc. that you have to find online. That is great.

I have a feeling these might be a little heavy on the number of cards. I couldn't help it. My CCG decks are always a little heavy : ) Too many good cards, always.

Do these 2 decks seem like they would play well against each other? I will have to teach a friend how to play and try it out myself, but I figured I would ask the experts first.

They aut-to be good enough to teach a friend while making the game enjoyable. However give your friend the Zycon deck while teaching the game to him/her;-) Ball lightning is and Ultra Rare, If you wanna make the deck a bit more fair replace it with another tree-ent or somthin. Your sutraps deck doesn't have any Ultra Rares in it.

Ball Lightning is not overly powerful, especially in a 60 card deck. I wouldn't worry about it at all. In fact if might be that decks only saving grace. Not to say that it's a bad deck, but wizards that rely solely on spells to win typically have a difficult time against decks with creature removal and control.

I like seeing the decks that you've posted. I know that it is hard sometimes, but it is REALLY important to cut your decks down to 50 cards (49 and a Character). To do this, I suggest you cut cards from the wizard deck that aren't really needed, like the Sacrificial Lamb and the Wandering Unicorn. The Sacrificial Lamb adds a lot of good magic, but you can only use him once, and you have plenty of other magic users that will cast spells over and over again. The Wandering Unicorn will inevitably hurt you, since your opponent will, most likely, gain control of it. The Tree-Ents, on the other hand, were a great addition to deck, as the defense helps a lot when you are trying to cast spells. I think if you focus the deck a little more on the casting of spells, then you should be able to get it down to 50 cards.

I like the Sutraps deck you built. I greatly suggest running Devil's Contract. The 1 damage a turn doesn't effect Sutraps, and you get an extra action from it. Just be careful not to play it when you have a lot of creatures on the board. Also, since Sutraps relys heavily on getting an extra action or getting True Loyalty of undead, I think adding Sneaky Snyder would help. It would get you the items you need faster than normal. As for cards to cut, the Corpse Explosion is a definate downfall in this deck. If you don't run it, then your deck won't need to run any wizards to cast the spell. Most likely, you willbe using Lord Sutrap's action on your turn, so he would never cast it either. I think focusing the deck on structures and getting those key items is most important when running a Sutraps deck.

That being said, I think they are very solid decks. I hope that you playtest these decks and work out the kinks that are bound to arise. But the decks are good. Just keep in mind, 50 cards is important.
