When I saw this card, I thought "broken." I've known other games with cards that have similar effects, and these are usually the most sought after. But now I'm seeing the lists of those who won tournaments and none ran it. Why doesn't this card make the cut?

I agree this is an under-rated card and probably should get more looks then it does. Here are a few reasons that it doesn't see much play. 1. It is an ultra-rare. Not everyone has one. Since it is an ultra-rare, it doesn't end up in play that often. 2. The current meta-game is quite fast. Since in tournament play the game is often decided in the first few turns, people would rather be playing a creature, a damage spell, or some form of removal. 3. It doesn't fit into the top decks. Since it does require a decent amount of magic to cast, you can't just throw it into any deck. You have to commit to a moderate amount of caster if you want to play this card. 4. It is underrated/overlooked. It is a very powerful card that is reasonably costed. It just hasn't been in the top decks so people don't think of it when playtesting a new deck. I am sure other people have more ideas/reasons it hasn't seen much play. The trend lately has been for more agro style decks that wouldn't gain much with the addition of this card. Maybe you can find a deck that really makes it shine

The most popular decks lately are Lady Phe'Ronde aggro or aggro/control decks, and they just can't foot the bill for this card. You would have to be a contol or control/aggro deck and probably have a magic savvy character to find and use this card efficiently.
I would love to play this card and have always thought that I would if I had one. I think you will see it more in the future...

It is a great card. But I think most people either don't have a deck that can run it, or just don't have it period.

I just wanted to double check, your opponent won't be able to defend since it uses an action, right?

That's what the card states, my friend. Abuse it to your hearts content. =)

Just to be sure, is this effect to be read quite literally, meaning that it only disables abilities requiring Actions, correct?
Twisted Sorcerer, is an activated ability not requiring an Action. Is he "under the radar" so to speak?
