There's a player in our league running both Cataclysm and Heat Wave, so I want to be sure I'm understanding these cards correctly. The Damage dealt by Cataclysm is only concerned with actual adjustments to the Character's Health, not pre-existing Damage Tokens, correct? Here are some examples; please let me know if I'm getting any of them wrong:
Example 1
Lady MacDonnan has previously Attacked Grimus and been Defended against by him twice, reducing her to 8 Health. In addition, she has 2 Damage Tokens on her when Cataclysm is cast. After Cataclysm resolves, she will still be at 8 Health and will have 6 Damage Tokens on her.
Example 2
Lord Zycon has a Devil's Contract and 3 Damage Tokens on him and a significant force of Wizards serving him. His Creatures cast Cataclysm. He now has 13 Damage Tokens. Were he to cast Heat Wave, he would kill himself, as his Health would be reduced to 10 and his Damage would exceed his Health.
Example 3
Elder Gerdge has 10 Damage Tokens and 4 Fortresses Maintained. (He thus has either 22 or 28 Health--see my question in the Fortress thread--at the time Cataclysm is cast.) The Spell deals 11 (or 14) Damage to him, increasing his total Damage to 21 (or 24) Damage Tokens, which, since his Fortresses are now gone and his Health is back to 20, kills him.

Cadthere is ever an official R&D crew for ME, please be on it. As always, you rock for asking the intuitive questions.
As per the rules, there is nothing that I see that defines Health as what is left after subtracting Damage Tokens...thus whenever any card reads for Health, it would read the cards value with plus or minus any alterations to it. So...
Ex1- She will have 6 damage tokens, taking 4 from Cataclysm because of her "current health" of 8.
Ex2- I'm sorry, I can't read the 13 damage...I only read 10 damage. (Zycon's Health is 15, he would take 7 from Cataclysm) After Heatwave, his health is 8, and he dies.
Ex3-Assuming Gerge has 22 Health, with 10 Damage already, he takes 11 more for a total of 21 damage. After Cataclysm resolves, his health goes back to 20, and he dies.rac, if

You are absolutely correct; my mistake. I wasn't referring to a copy of Zycon as I wrote the example, and for some silly reason I was thinking he had 20 Health. (Like he needs the boost; he's already one of the most effective Characters. Even in our store's limited experience, it's the Zycon player I mentioned who's running the Cataclysm and Heatwave who is nearly unstoppable in our league. Course, we don't have anyone running LPR yet. After the discussions I've been reading on here, I think this Sunday I'll throw my Zycon deck behind LPR and see how good she does with it.)
