Am I correct in believing that this means that if you had this Creature In Play, declaring an Attack Action with any other of your Creatures who already had Damage Tokens on them would kill them off as soon as the Attack began to resolve, before they could actually damage anything themselves?

No. Because the Battlemonger gives creature a health of one while attacking, not -1.

Okay, please correct where I am thinking about this wrong in the following example:
I have a Battlemonger and two Wandering Unicorns in Play. One of the Unicorns has 1 Damage Token on it. I declare an Attack with both of the Unicorns. When the Attack begins to resolve and the Unicorns are then considered Attacking, both will become Power 4 and Health 1. One of the Unicorns will therefore at that point have Damage Tokens equal to its Health. Shouldn't that kill it?
