I just got turned on to this game by a friend of mine named Python last week. I searched all the local shops until I found one that carried the game and then went there and bought a starter and every booster they had.
I guess I need to start out by stating that myself and my friend Python, are ultra competitive at everything that we do. We became friends several years ago due to a mutual interest in Mage Knight. We started playing that game from the very beginning. We organized all of the local play groups in each of our respective areas. Python's area is Detroit and my area is Wooster, Ohio which is central Ohio. We also organized a yearly tournament called Border Wars that put the Ohio players versus the Detroit players. Python and I were both Warlords for Mage Knight meaning that we ran all of the local tournaments in our areas for Wizkids and took care of prize support etc. We both also competed in every National Tournament that was held for Mage Knight until it's untimely demise. Before Mage Knight, both myself and Python competed in competitive Magic the Gathering, playing from it's inception with Alpha until several years ago when the "net decks" in our opinion, changed the game to the point that we both no longer wanted to play it.
Both Python and I are now looking for the next game that we can both teach new players to play...and more importantly that he and I can compete in. We've tried several other games and they just didn't pan out. However, Mystical Empire looks like a winner for us.
As I said above, I picked up a starter and then an entire box of boosters so that we could learn to play the game and start building some decks.
I really like the game a lot and I think that the creators of Mystical Empire have done a wonderful job in designing a new and innovative game, but I have a question. How does Line Of Site work? To my knowledge, as long as a target is not behind a wall or inside a structure then there is clear LOS to the target. If a target is inside a structure or behind a wall then the target's LOS is considered blocked. Of course creatures with flying can target creatures that are behind walls which is an exception to the rule. Is what I've stated correct?
I have some other questions and observations that I will be posting soon. I just wanted to get my name out there and let everyone know my credentials as far as playing games is considered.
