So am I missing something here? Why do this to this poor 1st Edition card?

The only thing I can think of is that perhaps Cantrips can only be played on the caster's turn. But that seems silly as well. (I haven't really looked at all the other Cantrips yet)

I posted a response relating to this elsewhere earlier. You are correct "Q" Cantrips can only be played on your turn and not in reaction. They are like Conjurations. This makes Halt still a worthy spell to use, as it is a Ritual, which can be casts at any time during any Main or End phase and in reaction for just 4 General. Don't worry, I'm not out of my mind, yet. =)

lol, really? Is that why you just called Hexagania Swarm "Halt"?
hahahahahahaha! ;D ;D ;D
I'm just kidding. Thank you for clearing that up, sir.
And...P.S. Referring to that last comment, as hard as you work, no one would blame you if and when.

I'm thinking no, they have to be the start of the event since keith said they can't be played in reaction

Apparantly not. The Cantrip mechanic is further detailed in Chambers. Check it out!
