I could use some help as well. Who do I contact about the Tournament software messing up. We did two tournaments last night and BOTH messed up while reporting scores. This is the 3rd time it's happened. I recorded the whole thing so I could tell the appropriate people, but I need to know who to contact.

We have been having some technical difficulties with the web-based tourney system. If you run the events manualy or using DCI or other tourney systems and then upload the results manualy to CGE the rankings will show perfectly. We will have a brand new client based software download available asap. We will be letting sponsors know as it becomes available.

HELP!!!

I forsee so many problems if guidelines on which tournaments count towards overall rating do no come into play SOON. One shop hosting 5+ "official" tournaments a week would skew the top players dramaticly in the favor of their store. I am very thankful that these stores are being supportive to the game but I don't want the points race to come down to whose store runs the most tournaments a week! I think that it should be limited to one sanctioned tournament per store, per week. That tournament needs to be posted on the event website at least one week prior to the event. The event should have to take place on a weekend to allow other players a better chance to travel to the event. This will restrict one group of players from one store having an overwhelming advantage over the rest of the players. I think this matter needs to be addressed immediately or we could end up with several issues prior to the championships at Gen-Con.

I'm the owner of iGameSpot and we run 2 sanctioned events a week. The only reason we are doing so is because of demand from people driving to our store from other states. Two events in a given night to me sounds a little weird and if they both where sanctioned. But never the less the stores should be able to run at least 1-2 events a week if the demand is there and should be required to do the following: 1. Making the Required turnout of 8+ 2. Posting the events on CGE (at least 1 week in advance sounds good) 3. Entering the results in the CGE system manually or automatic (no later than a week after the event) I find that running two events a week like I am now won't last long. Yes its true some players are trying to play as many as they can to get or keep their points up. But even with that you still need 8 players. Even our Wednesday events that are supposed to start at 4 don't always because of lack of players or players running late. We've been lucky to get a solid 8 or more each week but sometimes have started as late as 6pm, which I won't do anymore because I got home way to late with my son. However, I do think that 5 events a week is extreme and may even require to be looked into. Other game systems have had store center owners try to cheat the system by ordering more prize kits than they need only to sell them off, pawning FNM foils for cash, etc. etc.. So Q's right that someone may try to abuse the system so it may be worth looking into if something like 5 events becomes an issue. Sojo out!

I am not Q LOL. The situation of 5 tournaments a week has not happened. My point is that there is nothing stopping a shop from doing so. Since there is no official ruling, the situation could happen and the change to player rankings would be legitimate. Let me use a hypothetical example. My shop is currently an official sponser. We could start holding nightly tournaments at 8pm here in North Conway. While I don't think I am the best Mystical Empire player in the country, I probably am the best player in my store. By hosting this tournament at 8pm Monday through Friday, the chances that players from other areas showing up are unlikely. If I start winning 3-5 sanctioned events per week, I would quickly become the number one rated player in the country. THIS IS JUST A HYPOTHETICAL SITUATION. I am using it only to prove a point. It could happen especially with such a large prize on the line.

You’re right, if it where to get out of hand like that and hopefully it won't. Another thing to point out is that judges can't judge and participate in the same event. With that said it would be a nice improvement for the CGE system to track the Judge running the event to ensure its not one of the participants.
I'm sure from these posts Keith will have it on his radar incase something like this where to get out of hand.
Sojo out!

The reality is it is already starting to get out of control first starting with 2 events a week which i think is too much already. To say that there is a demand for 2 tournament a week is soley a stores "demand" to make money. People can playtest for fun all week it is not a demand to hold a sanctioned tournament. If that many people are interested ina tounament than they will all show on the one day you hold your tounament. Secondly with this situation where 2 events were held in one night. And an event was turned into a sanctioned event when they decided there was enough people there to make one. Things only get worse in this situation not better. Its like Charlie and the Chocalate factory, Whos gonna get the golden ticket?

Syn, what would you do if the store holding 5 tournaments a week was in California? The best player in that store would probably quickly pass you in the rankings.

Yeah, I don't think it would be fair to let stores do so many tourneys that not everyone has access to. I know I, for one, spend my money that I earned each week just to get myself down to the nearest tourney and try to keep my ranking. I really don't think that it would be fair to have isolated tournaments that only a certain few can go to. That would make everyones hard work of getting to where they are all be for naught if some store could hold hold 2 tourneys a night until GenCon. That would let some person who may not have put in as much effort steal all of spoils from those who worked hard to get where they are.
Sorry about that, but I just want to keep this fair for everyone who has dedicated their time and effort into this, so that everyone will have an equal opportunity to win. Good luck everyone! ;D

You would have the same problem if you have a city or town with 3 centers and each ran 1 event a week on different days but one person could attend all 3 and but you could only attend one.
The reality is centers need to run events to make money which equal to selling product etc.. etc... To limit them to one event a week is frankly stupid. I run 3 magic events a week, 2 YuGioh, and now 2 ME, just to name a few. I agree that you need to watch out for center or owners (etc.) that are trying to abuse the system. For example: have them selves rank high, but true fully doing so won't make them a better player and will only get them at most a trip. That's only if they don't get caught in the process.
If you want your rank to stay up then go to events and WIN. That's really the key. If your area doesn't give you the benefit of having that opportunity then I would think it’s sad to say but you’re probably out of luck.
